Swing Dancing Every Thursday At Austin Swing Syndicate

At Austin Swing Syndicate, we value community, and we hope all our members and attendees are having a a great holiday week. We had a lot of questions recently regarding if we are open on December 26th. To put everyone’s inquiring minds at ease: YES, we will be holding a regular weekly Austin Swing Syndicate Thursday dance. In fact, if you were unaware, we have held weekly Thursday dances since 1999! In the past 14 years, we have maybe missed only a handful of Thursdays due to the venue being unavailable. We want you to always remember, that there is swing dancing every Thursday at the Austin Swing Syndicate!

So tell all you family and friends, to come out and learn some swing dancing this Thursday at the Fed. It’ll be a great time to share with your friends and family the joys of swing dancing! See you all Thursday!

Flash Mob Planned For October 2013

Syndicate Flash Mob at Alamo Drafthouse

Our last Flash Mob at Alamo Drafthouse went super well (if you didn’t get a chance to watch it check it out here and here). So mark your calendars! We pinned down a day for the next Flash Mob to happen! It’s set to happen on October 17th before the dance at the Fed! More details to come. Please join us!

We’ll be doing two variations of the Shim Sham, the more common version that Frankie Manning taught, and the Dean Collins Shim Sham that Matt Mitchell was awesome enough to pass on to us in July and August!

If you don’t know either version, that’s ok! This Thursday September 26th, Dominique be teaching a crash course of the Frankie Manning Shim Sham in the Gallery at the Fed, from 8:15-9pm. Here’s the Facebook event invite, hope you can make it!

Also if you know the Shim Sham please consider joining us on the 17th so we can have a large group of people!

Freewheeling Parking is Going Away

FreeWheeling is Closing so do NOT Park There

Freewheeling Bicycles and their parking lot will soon be no more. Starting in May, we are no longer under contract to use their lot on Thursday evenings and soon the space will be torn up and development will begin to turn it into something else. Which means this Thursday, May 2nd, do NOT park at Freewheeling. The lot will not be open and free to us and there will be a valet service that will be monitoring the lot and charging for parking. However, we will have parking still just at a garage now! Read more
