4 Week Workshop – The Big Apple

The Big Apple is a solo and partnered social Jazz dance that originated in the African American community in the 1930’s. Learn the version made famous by Whitey’s Lindy Hoppers Thursday in May @ 7pm.
In addition, on our live music event on May 30th we are offering 3 exciting workshops!
May 30 Workshop – Lindy Hop fundamentals and dynamics of connection

Audience: All Levels
Prerequisites: At least one class of Lindy Foundations
It’s easy to fall into the trap of learning move after move, but to really shine on the social dance floor, mastering the fundamentals are key. In this workshop, we’ll approach leading and following from the ground up, answering questions like “How is information transferred mechanically from partner to partner?”, “What really is connection?”, and “Is Lindy Hop and 6-count dance, 8-count dance, or something else entirely?”. Whether you’re a seasoned dancer looking to think more deeply about your partnered dancing or a newcomer eager to learn without the need for predetermined moves, this workshop offers an opportunity for (re-)approaching the fundamentals and dynamics of Lindy Hop connection.
May 30 Workshop – Bal-Shag-Lindy Taster!

Dip your toes into the dance styles we teach here at The Syndicate in this Taster Workshop, you will learn the basics of Balboa, Collegiate Shag, and Lindy Hop in 30 minutes segments! This is the perfect opportunity to expand your Swing repertoire and decide what series classes you want to sign up for in June!
