Join us on May 24, 2015 for Swing Central. Swing Central is an annual event put on by the Austin Swing Syndicate and Central Market to showcase swing dancing in Austin. Every Swing Central, there is a Jack and Jill dance contest (free to enter). In the Jack and Jill contest, no partners are necessary and you dance with a different partner for each song. This year, Swing Central will have Jonathan Doyle’s Swingtet playing for us. Come out and have a great time!

• Time: 6:30pm to 9:00pm (if you are competing please show up by 6:15pm)
• Place: Central Market North Lamar on the Patio (4001 N. Lamar Blvd., Austin, TX 78756)

• Contest: Jack and Jill Contest, Free entry, prizes to be announced at event (professional teachers or instructor-level dancers may not compete, we are trying to keep the competition fun and open for everyone)

NOTE: We talked to Central Market and the event will happen rain or shine. If it is raining, everything will be relocated to the covered patio. If it rains the band will still play, but the contest may not happen due to space restrictions.

Join us for our Spring Fling on Thursday, March 26! In conjunction with this year’s Austin Blues Party, the Austin Swing Syndicate​ will be having a live band! Coming all the way from the northeast, The Fried Bananas will be playing some sweet jazz for us at the Fed.

The Austin Swing Syndicate has partnered up with Highland Lounge for a Gatsby Roaring 20’s New Year’s Eve Party (Dec 31st, 2014: 8pm to 3am)! Come Dapper, Flapper, and Night-Capper! Jump in the jalopy with your doll and your pal and head on down to the Highland Lounge. Every dame in town knows it’s all the cat’s meow, so be sure to wear your best 1920’s costume out. The great GATSBY New Year’s Party will have all the ritz and the glitz and the champagne will have you blitzed! Please note, to enter the event you’ll need to be 18 years or older since it’s at a club (please make sure to bring a valid driver’s license). Also, if you’re an Austin Swing Syndicate member you can get in FREE at any point in the night, please make sure to bring a current Austin Swing Syndicate membership card to get your free entry. Otherwise, entry is free until 10:00pm, and cover will be $10 after 10:00pm. Highland Lounge is also offering some VIP packages if you want a fancier experience.

Start your night off early with a complimentary Swing Dance Lesson, hosted by the Austin Swing Syndicate. CHICO CHICO will keep the dance floor jiving with live jazz music. Avant Glam Cabaret will perform spectacular burlesque. And when the clock strikes midnight, the grand champagne toast will ignite, followed by an all night Electro Booty Swing Dance Party with DJ Happy Happy James!
